Signs that spring will come--eventually.

This is the place in our yard where the earliest flowers will blossom--but not quite yet as snow still covers the ground, and the bulbs are still sleeping in the cold earth.
The earliest sure sign of spring is the arrival of the seed catalogs in the mail. We have quite a few now, so we can read and dream. It is quite amazing how much energy and enthusiasm one has for gardening while sitting inside the warm house while snow falls outside on a February day.
In the sunroom tomato plants are sprouted and growing--by the middle of May they will be nice big plants--and, hopefully before July we will be eating fresh tomatoes.

  1. I read a quote recently "February is when gardens are planned" That has certainly been true for me. Lots of ambition, little action.
