New York Times Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Megan sent out this article and recipe for what was supposed to be the best chocolate chip cookie in the world--of course, I had to try it out.  I sort of resented how fussy it was--I had to go buy cake flour, and special dark chocolate chips, sea salt and it involved things like 2 cups minus two tablespoons--but in the name of science I followed it exactly--except that where it called for large eggs I used duck eggs which are extra large.

I baked 6 of them Saturday evening after our birthday party for Dylan, Violet, Grace and April, and after a game of "Ticket To Ride."  The official tasters were Dylan, Brigham, B.J., and Emma.  At first there weren't many comments--just u-u-ms and a-h-hs.  But then there was a bit of discussion--are they really the best ever?
Brigham thought that the 36 hours had really blended the flavors, Dylan didn't think it mattered.  B.J. thought they had too many bitter chips and thought it would be better to mix with "regular" chocolate chips.  Eventually everyone noted that they missed oatmeal.  The final conclusion was that these were awfully good.......
But the best chocolate chip cookies for Kelly kids are Grandma Kelly's.

Grandma (Wanda)Kelly's cookies live on in memory and legend forever.

  2. Dont hate - but I have never been a huge fan of G-ma's...I have always been partial to good ol' toll house cookies. I am trying these this weekend for real - it seems like conference is a good time to devote hours in my kitchen for cookies.
